Pocatello Idaho | Bridal Photos | Lindsay + Tony

Lindsey and Tony are both such kind people and they were AMAZING to work with. Tony was actually my basketball coach in high school and when Lindsey originally booked with me, I did not put two and two together. It took me a minute to realize who I was shooting but once I did, I was super stoked. These two are seriously SO cute together and I have to tell you a little bit about this shoot. Let me start off by saying that Idaho weather is freaking nuts and causes me a fair amount of stress. I talk about the weather all the time, but it plays a huge role in almost every shoot that I do. We went back and forth literally all day trying to decide if we were going to be able to shoot because it was so gloomy and looked like a storm might bust out and ruin our shoot. Ultimately, we decided to just get out there and go do it because, why not, right? It turned out to be awesome weather until the very end of the shoot when it SNOWED, that’s right snowed on us, in May. You guys, I can’t make this shit up. Luckily, we were wrapping up when that started and so it didn’t really affect us, and the pictures turned out perfectly. I think my favorite part of this shoot was the first look but let me tell you, it did not go quite like we had planned.

I love to do first looks during bridal shoots. Usually, on the day of the wedding there is not a ton of time that we can take to go shoot the couple alone. Don’t get me wrong, there is usually some time, but with all the family shots we need to get in it can be limited. More and more, people are opting to take bridals beforehand so they can check that off their day-of to-do list. A lot of people worry that doing a photoshoot together before the day will take away from their reaction when seeing each other for the first time, and that is why we do first looks! I find that the moment is so special when it can be intimate and private… well more private than a room full of people witnessing your first look. The most practical way that I have found to make a first look happen at a bridal shoot is to have the groom show up first. That way, I have a chance to get him into position where I will be able to capture his reaction, and then have the bride come up to meet us. Typically, it only takes me a few minutes to get the bride over to where I have arranged for the first look to happen but Lindsey and Tony’s first look took a little longer than usual, and when I say a little longer, I mean like 15 minutes longer. I swear, Tony probably thought Lindsey and I were playing some sort of practical joke on him.

The situation went down like this: Tony arrived, and we were starting to head up the mountain to where I wanted to shoot their first look. I wanted to touch base with Lindsey to get an idea on how long it was going to take her to get there, so I called her on the phone. She said she was going to leave the house in a minute so I thought our timing would be fine. I got Tony into position and I figured she was for sure on her way up to meet us, so I decided to head back down to the car to meet up with her. Well, all my girls out there know that when dealing with strip eyelashes, they DO NOT always cooperate, and it can be a real situation. That is what we were dealing with, a lash situation. Lindsey was using the magnetic strip lashes but did not have enough of the liner on for one of them to stick and she didn’t have the liner with her! She pulled in about 15 minutes after I got to the parking lot, we got her dress on, and I was literally trying to stick her lash to her eyelid right before we went up to meet Tony. He had no clue, she looked perfect, and we eventually made it! I felt so bad leaving Tony up there all by himself but, I mean, he had great scenery to look at so, it could have been worse, right?

Despite the timing issues, their first look turned out amazing. They were both so nervous and excited leading up to the moment that they saw each other, but the moment that they saw each other there was just this moment of silence. It was so sweet, the look on their faces was just pure joy. Looking at their reactions, you can really see and feel the love between them, it was so fun to be a part of. The rest of their bridals turned out perfectly. I mean, HOW COULD THEY NOT? Look at these two! Look at Lindsey! She is drop dead gorgeous and her dress is so perfect for her. I love the lace. It was so detailed and beautiful but the dress itself was very classic and simple which was so complimenting to Lindsey’s natural beauty. I loved that she chose to go with a dress that was more elegant because, like I said, it really complimented her as a whole. I mean, who am I kidding? Lindsey could wear a brown paper bag and still be the most gorgeous girl in the room, but her dress was so special, and she looked beautiful in it.

I cannot wait for this wedding! These love birds are going to be getting married in the Logan Temple in just a few weeks and their bridals have set the bar high for an incredible wedding shoot!
